In the last and third video from the educational series launched by STEP for its viewers on YouTube, Stefan explains why your business probably already ticks most of the boxes necessary for ISO standards, and how certification can improve the company’s operations and competitiveness.
1. Going for ISO certification is easier than it sounds
Your company probably already follows the majority of the requirements laid down in ISO standards. Each set of standards that leads to ISO certification aren’t developed in a vacuum but are chosen to reflect how companies have evolved over time, as well as the latest improvements in technology and business management practices. Your biggest task in the process for ISO certification will be to organise your company before applying.
2. Client involvement varies in the different stages of certification
STEP’s role as ISO consultants is to minimise the effort that clients need to make to organise their company before certification and shift this responsibility onto our team. We would still maintain close contact with you through regular meetings in which we’ll either be collecting information and debriefing you about the latest progress and changes that need to be implemented. You’ll have the opportunity to review all the information related to your company’s ISO performance. The whole process rarely exceeds a total of 50 contact hours.
3. ISO certification typically takes between 3 months to a year
The certification itself is not conducted by ISO, but by an independent certification body that audits your processes to ensure they meet the standards required. Given the present COVID-19 situation, most of the internal and external auditing involved in the certification process is being carried out remotely by presenting evidence through screen-sharing and digital documentation.
4. STEP has adapted to the new normality
To ensure the safety of our clients and staff, we have also shifted to a method of working that is predominantly online: through email, chat, and other tools. Despite the uncertainty that a pandemic brings, we have noticed that many clients are taking advantage of having more time available to focus and review their operational processes.
