M.M.S. Shipping Agency Ltd. was established in 1978 by the late Mr Ronald Galea as brokers, ship charterers, bunker and ship agents operating from a centrally located office in Malta. M.M.S. offers all services related to the chartering of ships and the movement of bulk cargo to and from Malta.

M.M.S. is now in its second generation and has expanded its business, providing an all-round service to ship owners and managers. They take pride in offering timely and effective service, seeing to the individual requirements of each of their clients.

Challenge

The goal that M.M.S. wanted to reach for during their ISO 9001 consultancy and certification process was the standardisation and simplification of all operational procedures.

This decision allowed employees to work more efficiently and effectively, especially when it comes to day-to-day tasks such as updating customers and preparing vessel formalities in advance.

Approach

Together with STEP, M.M.S. targeted the areas of operation they wanted to improve and created straightforward procedures that ensured a more complete and effective way of operating.

Outcome

M.M.S. had started their ISO 9001 certification process in August 2016 and received their official ISO 9001 certification in October 2016.

Obtaining certification has helped the organisation improve its processes and routine tasks, ensuring that the business operations are performed efficiently and effectively.
