GVZH is one of the five large law firms in Malta. They have been in the Maltese legal landscape for eighty years and focus on corporate mergers and acquisitions, regulated financial services and other regulated business.

Once GZVH’s clients are typically large corporate companies, local family businesses, international entrepreneurs who are doing business in Malta and high net worth individuals, ISO certification became an ambition that Managing Director, Andrew Zammit, set out in late 2017.

Challenge

Embarking on the process of ISO Certification was initially met with a bit of resistance as there was no other law firm on the islands that was ISO 9001 certified.

Achieving ISO certification therefore became a significant milestone in GZVH’s journey. It identified one main issue which was that the documentation process or lack thereof was being taken for granted.

ISO 9001 enabled GZVH Advocates to develop systems which now draw together functions from different parts of the organization, making it one sequential process that creates a high quality and predictable output.

Approach

STEP helped guide GZVH through the process of ISO Certification by identifying gaps in the management system and proactively maintaining the consistency of a quality management system which now standardizes certain building blocks within their service delivery.

The benefits of ISO 9001 Certification include the documentation process now becoming a, which has resulted in Andrew’s peace of mind that the company’s service is more consistent.

Outcome

ISO has now become a continuous discipline which GZVH are constantly developing. The organization have instilled a mentality and culture which has been picked up very warmly by our staff.

Getting certified has provided a very strong foundation for them to keep building a stronger, more robust organization both for their staff and for their clients.
