Unistores

Unistores (Services) Ltd is a company offering temperature regulated storage services, which have now been extended to include relabelling, coding and delivery services in order to meet today’s demands.

Starting operations in 2009, from a 400 m² storage facility, Unistores (Services) Ltd now operates from two centrally-located temperature-controlled depots, with storage facilities exceeding 4,000 m².

The main stocked items are food items, which are eventually delivered on behalf of the client to retail shops, supermarkets, and other establishments involved in the food industry including hotels, restaurants, bars, etc.

The aim of the company is that before the end of 2020, it expands its storage services to include pharmaceuticals. In this regard, the necessary research has been carried out and the process of submission of the relevant documentation has been initiated.

Founded by the CEO Mr Tonio Ciantar, the company now employs over 50 skilled and professional staff who are all committed to the company’s vision and are all highly passionate about the work they carry out.

Challenge

Before getting in touch with STEP, the staff were well-aware of their duties. However, such duties were not clearly documented.

Becoming ISO-certified allowed Unistores (Services) Ltd to establish a Quality Management System (QMS) which is well-structured and that is based on the following management principles: customer focus, leadership, engagement of people, process approach, improvement, evidence-based decision making, and relationship management.

ISO certification has allowed the company to register an improvement in its day to day operations and in the quality of the services being offered. It has also made Unistores (Services) Ltd more competitive in its sector.

Approach

Once the decision to apply for ISO certification was taken, the company had to carry out a Gap Analysis in order to identify the missing documentation, training, and expired maintenance agreements in order to bring on track and identify the upgrades that needed to be carried out within the different units.

STEP was available literally every step of the way. Their staff provided the necessary guidance to reach the set targets within the agreed timeframes.

Outcome

Due to the requirements of some customers, STEP and Unistores (Services) Ltd worked hand in hand to achieve ISO 9001 certification in a short timeframe.

Following the fulfilment of all the requirements, Unistores (Services) Ltd was awarded ISO 9001 certification on the 1^st of July 2020 by Dimitto Certification Services.
